Job Summary

The Individual Giving Manager is responsible for supporting Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s (LMC) individual giving efforts by focusing on donors who give between $1,000 and $4,999 on an annual basis. By deepening relationships with a portfolio of existing donors and qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding new prospects for increased giving. The Manager will work collaboratively with, and in support of company leadership, and other company staff to effectively manage and broaden donor relationships. Aside from donor relationship management, the successful candidate will also engage directly with LMC management and the board, and will assist with project work, campaign management, outreach, and events.

This staff member will be comfortable engaging with colleagues, donors, and board members with warmth and tact, and for handling donor and prospect data with discretion. It is essential to be able to respond to problems with a positive attitude and balance multiple deadlines and objectives.

Core Responsibilities

  • Create and execute a comprehensive strategy for LMC’s mid-level donor program, focusing on individuals who contribute between $1,000 and $4,999 annually.
  • Establish short-term and long-term objectives to guide the growth and success of the program.
  • Manage a portfolio of 100-300 mid-level donors and prospects, utilizing a tiered approach to prioritize engagement and stewardship efforts.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with donors through regular and meaningful communication, leveraging various channels such as phone, email, and occasional face-to-face interactions.
  • Emphasize donor retention and work towards increasing their giving over time.
  • Utilize existing content, such as newsletter articles and PR materials, to create personalized touchpoints for donors based on their specific interests and giving patterns.
  • Ensure timely and personalized acknowledgment of gifts from donors in your portfolio, as well as from potential mid-level donor candidates.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date communication records in Salesforce CRM, capturing relevant donor interactions, preferences, and engagement history.
  • Generate reports to track and analyze progress, allowing for informed decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Identify and cultivate a pipeline of potential donors who have the capacity to make annual gifts exceeding $5,000.
  • Leverage events organized by LMC to engage prospects and enhance relationships with current donors.
  • Researches, prospects, and identifies potential partners whose values align with the Center’s.
  • Uses available databases including Wealth Engine to identify current donors or corporations who have the capacity to give more, and identify prospective donors who can be cultivated, based on their giving history and personal interests.
  • Prepares and maintains monthly reporting for LMC Development Committee meetings and engages Committee and LMC management on ad hoc project work.
  • Maintains confidentiality of departmental documentation and donor relation information.
  • Is detail oriented; knows how to close the loop and communicate progress to others.
  • Understands the process and nuances of donor stewardship; accepts that some weekend and evening responsibilities go with the job.
  • As needed, assists all Development events, and represents LMC at community functions, especially those related to the South Florida business community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or public relations preferred.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in development including at least two (2) years in individual giving preferred.
  • Familiarity with non-profit fundraising required.
  • Working knowledge of planned giving a plus.
  • Available to work evening and weekend events, as may be needed from time to time.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus.
  • Experience with Wealth Engine/iWave a plus.
  • Interest in marine life and ocean conservation a big plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

This position may involve working outdoors in Florida, often in hot and humid conditions, and at events that extend into evening and weekend hours. Must be willing and able to travel for offsite programming and possess a valid driver’s license.

Notes
This is a salaried and exempt full-time position. The successful incumbent may be required to perform tasks beyond the scope of this job description as requested by the supervisor. This recruitment may be used to select candidates for additional open positions. It is our policy that all team members, including newly hired, transferred, and promoted team members, will be carefully monitored, and evaluated for an initial introductory 3-month period on the job. After satisfactory completion of the introductory evaluation, such team members will be evaluated on an annual basis.
